Frequently asked questions

  • Therapy is a personal journey tailored to your unique needs, challenges, and goals. At its core, therapy provides a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgment.

When you begin therapy, our first session serves as a "get to know you" meeting. It’s an opportunity to share your story, discuss what led you to seek help, and determine if we’re the right fit. Together, we’ll outline your goals for therapy and start building the foundation for our work.

Each session is dedicated to you—whether you’re seeking to process past trauma, navigate life transitions, manage anxiety or depression, or strengthen your relationships. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I’ll be there to guide, challenge, and encourage you along the way.

You can also expect therapy to extend beyond our sessions. I may suggest exercises or strategies to practice in your daily life to reinforce the progress we make together. The aim is not just to address your immediate concerns but to help you build resilience, deepen self-awareness, and align your life with your values and goals.

Every step, no matter how small, is a step forward. In therapy, you’ll gain tools and insights to face challenges, celebrate growth, and live a more authentic and fulfilling life.

  • Yes, therapy is confidential. One of the core principles of therapy is creating a safe and private space where you can openly share your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment or disclosure. Your privacy is protected by strict ethical and legal standards.

There are, however, a few exceptions to confidentiality that are important to understand:

If you express intent to harm yourself or someone else, I am required by law to take steps to ensure safety, which may involve notifying the appropriate authorities or contacting individuals who can help.

If there is reason to believe that a child, elderly person, or someone who is otherwise vulnerable is being abused or neglected, therapists are mandated to report this to protective services.

In rare cases, a court may require a therapist to disclose specific information as part of legal proceedings.

During your first session, confidentiality and its limits will be discussed in detail. If you have concerns or questions about confidentiality, don’t hesitate to bring them up—open communication is an important part of the therapeutic process.

  • Choosing the right therapist is a personal and important decision. A good fit often comes down to feeling comfortable, understood, and supported. Take advantage of the complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to connect and determine if I am the right fit for you. After all, finding the right therapist is about discovering someone who resonates with you—a supportive partner on your path to healing and growth.

  • Evergreen Professional Counseling is considered an out of network (OON) provider. I do not currently bill through any insurances directly, but we can provide clients with a Superbill that can be submitted to insurance providers for reimbursement. A Superbill is a detailed invoice that includes session details, cost, and insurance codes. It can be submitted to your insurance company for potential reimbursement if you're using out-of-network benefits.

  • In our sessions, we’ll spend 50 minutes together, typically scheduled on a weekly basis, especially at the start. I know that by the time you decide to begin therapy, you’ve likely been dealing with some challenging issues. That’s why consistent weekly sessions are so valuable—they offer a regular space to explore, reflect, and move forward together.

This rhythm helps maintain momentum, accountability, and motivation as we work toward your goals. As we progress in therapy, we’ll regularly reassess and adjust our approach to meet your changing needs. For some, as they begin to heal and grow, fewer sessions may be necessary—and that’s perfectly okay. Our time together is flexible, designed to best support you in your journey of positive change and growth.

  • All major credit cards, HSA, and FSA cards are accepted.

  • The duration of therapy varies depending on your individual needs and goals. Some people may see significant progress in just a few months, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. The frequency and length of your sessions are tailored to you, with many clients starting with weekly sessions.

As therapy progresses, we’ll regularly reassess your goals and adjust the frequency of sessions if needed. Some individuals may eventually reduce their sessions to bi-weekly or monthly as they experience growth and healing. The important thing is that therapy is a personalized process, and the duration will be based on what best supports your ongoing journey.
